So here's the pattern I used to make these. Not extremely detailed but it gave me the gist of where things need to go. I used the seam on my pants as a starting point so I knew how far to go forward and back and then spellotaped them together to get the full pattern. Added a 1.5cm seam as I cut. The funny line on the front piece is 2.5cm/1inch in and added another 1cm to the front joining seam because there 2 funny seams there. Hope Awesome Photoshop Pictures next to this area explain it. I kept this seam as small as possible as its not an area you want to add bulk to! (At least not as a girl!)

Oh and the top seam, make as much as you need. Mine was 3cm but may still be a bit too much. Better to be safe than sorry.

Also! Measure twice, cut once!

Have fun Marines!

They look great! I like the detailing on the buckles.

The biggest I see everyone having (including me) are the chaps puckering out along that outside seam :-\

Alright, I've been trying on newspaper all afternoon and here's where my brain has been going with this for girls with bodies that aren't like a 12 year old boys/mine. That seam should be flat, it will be the angle of the arse seam, the angle of the top seam (more than 3cm at front as opposed to 3 at back), and the curves as they come up and around which should determine the fit around ones own curves. I've just had another try on of these and found I'm tucking it over for it to sit correctly so that top seam flat/straight across angle here is wrong.
However. If that fails, a dart at the top of that outside side seam probably wouldn't go amiss, just as long as you can get them on and off again otherwise I hope they go with your work/school clothes :P

I think the main thing here is trial and error which is why I used newspaper while I sorted everything out. If you'd like to give it a go and let me know, that would be great! I can't leave a problem unsolved :D

Thanks for the details! I hadn't thought it before but playing around with the seam might help pull it towards the body slightly instead of just sitting straight and out. I was thinking about a dart but that's a last resort.

Who knew chaps were such a pain in the bum.

Ok, will get back to you on that when I get home. I have no curves so pattern making is easy for me >_>

They're also found sitting and sharpening claws on my N7 armor when I'm not looking. I don't get too mad about that though, it's weathering that I don't have to do. :D
